MASTER LESSON PLAN BOOK
for use by HOME School TEACHERS or CHRISTIAN School TEACHERS.
by Joy Dean
TEACHER'S Master Lesson Plans can be used with ANY STATE HISTORY from a Christian Perspective STUDENT BOOK!
A 30 lesson course on the history of your state, easily expandable to your desired course length. Your student will make a personalized project notebook about his state using text and state symbol pictures from our Student Book!
FUN . . . A personalized state history keepsake notebook!
Your student will construct his very own state history textbook using text, maps, and color state symbol pictures from the Student Booklet!
Choose between TWO notebook options:
1. Choose to have your student format his own notebook pages and build an original notebook in a 3-ring binder, or
2. Have your student use MY STATE NOTEBOOK, a pre-formatted scrap book published by A Beka Book and available from them. (Sorry we do not carry this product) (You do NOT need to be using the A Beka program to purchase from them and use the MY STATE NOTEBOOK option. However, for those who do use A Beka, the MY STATE NOTEBOOK course is correlated to the fourth grade A Beka history curriculum and will provide the state history material needed for Lessons 86-115.).
Instructions are given in the MASTER LESSON PLAN BOOK for BOTH options.
Below is an example of the My State Notebook option and a sample lesson plan giving instructions for both options.
SIMPLE . . . Almost no teacher-preparation!
Here is a SAMPLE LESSON 5 lesson plan
Sample Lesson 5 pages from a Student Book
1. Give the student Quiz 1. Grade the quiz, writing the correct answers in red. Record the grade and return the quiz paperto the student to use as a study sheet. It should be kept in the study folder (MSN=MY STATE NOTEBOOK by A BEKA) or the Review section (BINDER).
2. Have the student cut out the pictures of the flower and the bird from the color picture page at the front of the Student Booklet. Give the student the Lesson 5 handout material. Read the material together.
MSN: Have the student mount these two pictures in the appropriate boxes on MSN page 11. Have the student trim and glue the three text boxes onto MSN page 10 across from the corresponding item. On MSN page 11, have him copy the motto and write one sentence about the flower and bird (using the information from the handout).
BINDER: Have the student create pages for the flower, bird, and motto, mounting the pictures and text on the appropriate page. You may wish to have him write a summary sentence on each page, using the information provided in the handout. Have the student insert these pages into the State Symbols section of his notebook. (Easy alternative: mount the pictures of the flower and bird at the bottom of the Lesson 5 text page and add the page to the State Symbol section of your notebook.)
3. Optional: The student will need a leaf from the state tree or a picture of the leaf for the next lesson.
FLEXIBLE . . . Adapts easily to YOUR time schedule and YOUR desired level of difficulty!
The 30 lessons provide a complete state history course while allowing wide flexibility in course length. Each lesson will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Instructions are given for adapting our material to various course lengths. The depth and difficulty level of either plan may be easily and individually adjusted by using the Expansion Suggestions at the end of each lesson or by modifying the scope of the assignments in the lesson plans.
For example, you may have a young student simply paste in a free tourist brochure, while you may assign an older student to research and write a report varying in length from one paragraph to multiple pages with added pictures. In a CLASSROOM setting, especially with older students, you may lengthen class time to an allotted class period by using the Expansion Suggestions.
The suggested research and projects may be done in class or assigned as homework and then discussed or presented orally during the next class period. For use as an INDEPENDENT STUDY project, use either the six-week or one-semester study plan provided in the Appendix of the Master Lesson Plan Book.
For a SUPPORT GROUP, use the 10-day plan in the Appendix.
