Product Rating: 5 out of 5 Comments: "My copy came in the mail yesterday and I ended up staying up most of the night reading it. I could not put this book down. I can't wait to read more books by Lisa."

Brandy S. Brow from Vermont ( Reviewed on August 14, 2003 )

Product Rating: 5 out of 5 Comments: "So You're Thinking About Homeschooling is the perfect book if you're considering homeschooling or simply want to know more about the different methods available. Lisa Whelchel (formerly Blair of The Facts of Life sitcom) sends you on a fieldtrip where you'll meet her homeschooling family and 14 fictitious families she created using extensive research. Once leaving Lisa's house, the "host" of each chapter comes from a different family who speaks to you as if you're right there. They are from various backgrounds and employ different schooling methods, such as Classical, Eclectic, Traditional, Unschooling, the Principle Approach, Accelerated Education, Literature-Based Learning, Robinson Self-Teaching Method, Charlotte Mason Method, and Unit Studies. As you talk to Lisa's "friends," you'll quickly see that most kids are not super-achievers and homeschooling often takes hard work and sacrifice. Although written with a Christian influence, there is no preaching or put-downs of the public school system. Plus, all living situations are common to everyday life so anyone can identify with them. So You're Thinking About Homeschooling is an excellent book that will bring you closer to a decision and/or method for your family. "

Amy from Lubbock, TX ( Reviewed on May 12, 2003 )

Product Rating: 5 out of 5 Comments: "This book is a great buy for those looking into homeschooling! Lisa brings the reader right into her own home and shares the struggles and rewards of choosing to homeschool. Her honesty and conversational writing style makes this a fun and easy read yet full of information. With so many options for homeschoolers, it is easy for a newbie to get lost in the overwhelming task of choosing curriculum, defining schedules, and figuring out what's going to work for their family. Lisa tackles this problem by introducing the reader to various homeschool families to get an intimate view of a variety of situations, reasons to homeschool, teaching methods, learning styles, and so much more. I now feel empowered as I was able to identify with some of the stories, and I now have a more defined direction as I look towards homeschooling my two kids."
